Jonas Huff is a systems engineer building across aerospace, robotics, and automotive domains.
Senior at the University of Illinois. Most recently with Amentum at NASA Johnson Space Center. Previously AutoStore and Fortna.
About
I’m a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign studying systems engineering with a minor in English. I’ve always been drawn to improving how things work, whether that meant restoring a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, designing a bracket mount at AutoStore, or teaching myself guitar and modifying my own instruments.
In summer 2025, I worked as a software engineering intern at NASA Johnson Space Center through Amentum on the JETSII contract. That experience built on a long-standing interest in aerospace and gave me the chance to contribute to real engineering systems in a high-stakes environment.
Alongside engineering, I study literature with a focus on authors like William Shakespeare and Leo Tolstoy. I am interested in how technical and creative disciplines overlap, especially in problem solving and communication.
I have also taken on leadership roles, including serving as Secretary for my fraternity. In that position, I rewrote the organization’s bylaws and helped lead an alumni fundraising effort that raised over $20,000 for house renovations.
Outside of school, I sail, play electric and acoustic guitar and 5-string banjo, build small video games, and cook. My go-to dishes are seafood paella, chicken tikka masala, and spaghetti carbonara.
